We have some excellent
hunting for Ruffed and Spruce Grouse. There are
hundreds of miles of old backcountry bush roads, ATV
trails and rail lines around the lodge that you can travel down and see lots of Grouse.
Due to our secluded location next to the Chapleau Game Preserve there is
almost no hunting pressure for Ruffled and Spruce Grouse.
The best time to come for Grouse is in late September. Many of the leaves have fallen by then,
which improves your chance at spotting the Grouse. The mornings should be cool which are
the conditions grouse like best and become they'll become more active. Later in the
day the temperature will warm up and this is your chance to get at little fishing in.
Hunting Grouse is more then just hunting. It's a chance to take long walks
out in the wilderness and enjoy the scenery. You'll see other wildlife
so remember to bring your camera. After spending a few days breathing in that clean northern
Ontario air, you will feel great.
